Spring has sprung

September 2018

Spring is here and our region is alive with new season blossoms that entice us to throw open our windows and homes.  Days are a little longer and the breeze is a little warmer. Bees are in the garden making what we love best – honey and helping out in the patch.

Think new season potatoes, asparagus, artichokes, beetroots and berries, broad beans and zucchinis. All of which can be found at our local farmers markets where you get to meet and chat with our producers.

So shake off those winter cobwebs and take in a breath of fresh air among our local natural wonders. Apple blossoms and irises are just the beginning to bloom – these spring walks will introduce you to an entire ecosystem of wildlife right on our doorstep.

Cook Park Heritage Walk

Cook Park embodies the changing seasonal colours of Orange. Summer's arrival brings gardens of stunning and vibrant, coloured roses. From February to April, hundreds of begonias bloom in the Blowes Conservatory and in spring, a burst of colour arrives with masses of tulips and daffodils.

Take the time to breathe the fresh air and stroll around Cook Park experiencing the beauty and heritage of these gardens.

East Orange Heritage Walk

This informative walk showcases the architecture of what was the Municipality of East Orange during the 1800s. Highlights include Bowen Terrace, the Strand Theatre, Robertson Park and the Orange Railway Station. The walk starts from the Orange Visitor Information Centre and takes approximately 1.5 hours, exploring this part of the city's history and heritage.

For a detailed brochure of the walk, call into the Orange Visitor Information Centre.
