ARTEXPRESS showcases outstanding bodies of work submitted for the 2024 HSC examination for Visual Arts by NSW students. The Visual Arts Stage 6 Syllabus directs students to create bodies of work that represent their intention as artists and reflects or references a critical understanding of the art world. The works on display in this exhibition use a wide variety of expressive approaches and media.

This exhibition celebrates the creativity and technical skill of young people from our region and across New South Wales and reaffirms Orange Regional Gallery's commitment to supporting the creative talents of young people by presenting their work alongside professional artists and exhibitions in the public arena.

Several themes have emerged in this year's selection including personal and cultural identity, familial connection, nostalgia and the nature of reality. ARTEXPRESS is a testament to the importance of visual arts education as a means for young people to make sense of their place in the world and to engage with contemporary challenges.

ARTEXPRESS is a joint initiative of the NSW Department of Education and the NSW Education Standards Authority.
