Make a day trip out of your visit to the Newbridge Art Exhibition!

Dr. Jim Frazier’s Crystal Art and Butterfly Exhibition is certainly worth the drive.

Written by Megan Rodd, Blayney Shire Council

Dr Jim Frazier worked as a cinematographer for David Attenborough for 25 years and this September and October his Crystal Art works will be on display at the Olde Bridge Gallery in Newbridge. Newbridge is a picturesque village in the Orange region that has a peaceful country appeal located just 20 min from Blayney.

This is the first time Jim’s Crystal Art and Butterfly Exhibition is being displayed in the Central West and is an exhibition not to be missed. He is one of Australia’s most highly decorated cinematographers. He is renowned for his work on David Attenborough’s wildlife documentaries, winner of an Oscar, an Emmy and has won over forty other national and international awards for his work.

Newbridge is approximately a 50-minute drive from Orange so we recommend you make it valuable day trip and see what else the region has to offer, with some remarkable stops along the way.

  1. Visit Millthorpe – Start your morning with brunch or coffee at one of the local cafes in and stroll through the local boutique shops and art galleries.
  2. If you time your weekend well you can check out the Blayney Farmers Markets held on the 3rd Sunday of the month (15 Sept, 20 Oct) where you can enjoy a cooked breakfast, coffee and plenty of fresh local produce.
  3. Drayshed Nursery – Enjoy an easy scenic drive from Blayney and out to Drayshed Nursery where you will find a boutique nursery, coffee and gift shop. Drayshed Nursery is open Friday – Sunday.
  4. Pub lunch at the Gladstone Hotel – From the Drayshed Nursery head to Newbridge where you will find the Olde Bridge Gallery and the Gladstone Hotel located in the center of the village. The Gladstone Hotel is perfect for your classic pub lunch offering a warm friendly atmosphere with great country food.
  5. Wine Tasting - On your way back home enjoy a wine tasting at the Slow Wine Co or Angullong cellar doors in Millthorpe.
